It was a weekend of celebration, gratitude, and new beginnings at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Madina, as the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana honored Rev. Edward Sereko Younge for decades of faithful service.
The retirement service was held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Both services took place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Madina, which served as a fitting host for the milestone. The sanctuary was filled with joy as over 400 people gathered, including clergy, laity, family, and ecumenical partners from across the country.
The President/Bishop of ELCG, Rev. John S. Donkoh, delivered a powerful “Godspeed” sermon, encouraging Rev. Younge and the church to remain steadfast in the Lord’s mission. Several citations and plaques were read and presented to Rev. Younge in recognition of his ministry.
Speaking after the service, many described the event as “befitting” and “Spirit-filled.” Rev. Younge expressed deep appreciation to the Board, the Planning Committee, and the entire ELCG family for the honor.
Prior to his retirement, Rev. Younge served as the Acting General Secretary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ghana.
